Master of Arts in Education

The Master of Arts in Education curriculum focuses on the foundational knowledge necessary to analyze and apply appropriate theory related to learning, organizational management, and leadership. Students are prepared to make positive changes in the field of education with an understanding of current educational practices, educational policies, and factors that impact student success. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for ethical and effective leadership careers in the field of education.

The program is designed to provide both a broad-based perspective of adult education and training, as well as an increased competence in fulfilling related responsibilities in educational institutions, nonprofits, and corporate organizations.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of their respective program option, graduates should be able to:

  • Apply broad knowledge of educational theory and research to positively impact educational settings.
  • Collaborate with educational stakeholders to promote a vision and mission that supports the success of students, school employees, and educational stakeholders.
  • Utilize appropriate strategies to evaluate and apply educational research to foster effective learning environments.
  • Identify appropriate educational technology resources to support student learning and staff professional development.
  • Evaluate school improvement through assessment and data analysis based on relevant data or research.
  • Apply an understanding of diversity and equity in education to foster inclusive school environments that enhance student learning or staff professional growth.
  • Apply ethical behavior, standards, and decision-making in accordance with the ethical and legal standards of the profession.
