Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security

The College of Health and Human Services offers a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security (BSHLS) degree program with the following options:

• BSHLS – Criminal Justice Administration
• BSHLS – Cybersecurity
• BSHLS – Emergency and Disaster Management
• BSHLS – Leadership

With the enactment of the Homeland Security Act in 2002, the United States Congress created the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The department’s core mission includes preventing terrorism and enhancing security; managing our borders; administering immigration laws; securing cyberspace; and ensuring disaster resilience. As part of DHS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is an integral component of America’s emergency management enterprise, working to ensure the successful preparation for, protection against, response to, recovery from, and mitigation of hazards. BSHLS students are exposed to the essential areas of homeland security agencies’ scope of responsibilities. Students who have successfully completed Trident’s ASHLS degree can apply all credits toward this BSHLS program.
