EDM 512 Emergency Healthcare Logistics in Disasters
This course will examine the foundation and function of healthcare logistics in emergencies brought on by natural and manmade disasters. The student will: (a) become familiar with public health professionals and their roles in the aftermath of disasters (b) understand coordinated response to disasters by military and civilian entities, (c)identify regulations for military and civilian response (d) track the process of stockpiling and procuring medical supplies (e) located dispensing sites, (f) understand the role of hospitals in disaster response, and (g) understand the management of medical surge.
